I’ve been wanting to try this place for awhile. It’s so cute, love the decor. The music was great. Service was really good, the girl we had was so nice.
I got buffalo chicken tenders which were super spicy. And then I got parmesan fry’s. Which were super nice.
My partner had a burger & chips and he said his was lovely. Portion sizes were perfect aswell! I’d definitely go back there
Nicely decorated restaurants stone walls and ceiling beams,wasn't impressed by the service ! We were waiting 20mins to be even asked for our orders thats criminal !! ,no offer of jug of water or titbits to nibble on as you wait.The food itself was ok the burger is super thin you get 2 on your bun to try make it look decent,the fries were average, also what put me off returning here is the noise of the music blaring I feel like you're competing with the racket playing while trying to have a conversation.
We ended up in Bovine on a Sunday evening when everywhere else in Portlaoise was absolutely packed and we couldn’t get a meal anywhere. They got us seated straight away, which already felt like a win.
The only thing I wasn’t mad about is that the burgers don’t come with chips or even a small side salad, you have to order those separately. It also did feel a little bit cold inside.
The burger itself was so tasty and juicy, genuinely one of the better ones I’ve had in a while. The chips were so nice with the salt & garlic butter. And the server was lovely, really chilled, not overly formal, just nice casual chats and good vibes all around.
Overall, great spot when you want good food without the fuss 😀
I recently had the pleasure of dining at a charming burger joint located on the first floor of the city center in Portlaoise. After reading some promising reviews, I decided to give it a try, and I was not disappointed.
The ambience of the restaurant is incredibly cozy, with dim lighting that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's a perfect spot for a relaxed meal with friends or family.
I ordered the crispy chilli chicken tenders, a honey buffalo chicken burger, and a kids' meal. The chicken tenders were a standout, with impeccable flavor, spices, and crispiness that made every bite a delight. The honey buffalo chicken burger, while cooked to perfection, was slightly underwhelming in terms of fillings, but still enjoyable.
Both the potato fries and sweet potato fries were excellently cooked, perfectly crispy, and paired wonderfully with the accompanying sauces.
The staff at the restaurant were exceptionally kind and approachable, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience.
If you ever find yourself in Portlaoise and are in the mood for some tasty, crispy chicken, I highly recommend this place. It's definitely worth a visit for the chicken tenders alone!
Top notch Burgers and more! Great little restaurant. Lovely staff, and proprietor Michael and partner give great customer service. Also do takeaway and can order and eat below in Shellys Bar. 10/10
